The Customs and Excise Department has held talks in Bischofswerda over the past nine months.

The results of the nine months of the fiscal year and the problems encountered were discussed and solutions were set.

Closing remarks at the meeting, Customs Commissioner Debele Kabeta said the ongoing reforms, strengthening the accountability system, revenue collection and ensuring compliance will be the focus of the next three months.

The commission plans to collect 154 billion birr in the 2014 Ethiopian budget year, Commissioner Debele said. He said 103 billion birr has been collected in the past nine months.

He said the commission will make every effort to collect 51 billion birr in the next three months.

In addition to the government's mandate, the commission will continue to strengthen its support to people affected by man-made and natural disasters, he said.
